Wilson Stone Co. Crushed TrapRock Stone from Somerset Street Quarry
The largest of Watchung's five quarries, a portion of the foundation of the crusher still stands on Somerset Street. Blue rock was quarried here and at Smalley's quarry across the street, the stone being used to pave roads throughout the area. One other blue rock quarry, Bicknell's on Stirling rRad, was utilized in paving U.S. Route 22.
Two others, quarries at Eaton’s Hill on Valley Road and the quarry behind the Schmidt building on the traffic circle, contained red sandstone used in building St. Mary's Church.
